After months of bickering with the state while showing a united front, the Duval County School Board members turned on each other Thursday before a split board selected the management organization option for Duval's intervene schools.

The board voted 4-3 to hand control of Andrew Jackson, Raines and Ribault high schools and North Shore K-8 over to the district-created Duval Partners for Excellent Education.

A film documentary of Raines High School will be premiering on Saturday, February 25 at 7pm in the Raines Auditorium.

It highlights the legacy of one of Jacksonville's most renowned, historically black high schools.

In the state of Florida, there are less than 12 of these schools still serving communities which have

a high population of black living in them.

Wasn't this the goal of integration?  We should be celebrating that our society has actually achieved something we set out to do.
