Peter Rummell takes issue with Mike Hogan statement in fundraising e-mail

Quote"Mike Hogan has said, in words I find chilling, that 'you run different than you govern,'" Rummell wrote. "Many elected officials find themselves faced with difficult situations that force them to compromise on campaign promises. However, in my forty-two years in business, and through my involvement in political campaigns, I have never heard anyone acknowledge that as a strategy up front. So what is Mike Hogan for now, and what will he be for later?"

What does this mean in the context of Mike Hogan?  How can we believe anything he's saying?

JeffreyS

We can't, the unions can't and I do not even believe the Tea Party can.

I would guess it could be interpreted in many ways (depending on your point of view).

What that statement says to me personally is ...I will do what I have to do to win.  Then I will run the show as I see fit once I am in.  (Just my 2 cents...*disclaimer...no retail value)

There are few people who post in TU's comment sections are completely idiots. They try to smear and being smart-asses about the whole political process. Some of them try to redirect / distract by placing blame on others or irrelevant topic.

Since Rummell supports someone else, why should Hogan care what he thinks? Really?

Rummell is a founder of JCCI which supports downtown growth and Brown who will say anything to get elected. Anything that JCCI stands for, you can bet will be a mouthpiece for Rummell and his efforts for Brown. So to take Rummell's money, does Brown have to speak to that which JCCI commands ergo Rummell? Rummell wants a strong downtown, hell who doesn't, but is Brown willing to tell voters in the suburbs that their communities are just as important to downtown, for risk of alienating Rummell and his JCCI commands?

Rummell may have given us our defining issue. Just as MFC jumped ship to support Glover, will Rummell be ostracized from Republican functions? When you get older, you think differently. In his mid 60s he has enough money and posture, so what real desire does he have for downtown to succeed, other than growing the JCCI?

M-train.. Really bud.. you should run for Mayor with your endless wealth of knowledge

Jimmy

JCCI is a community-based thinktank that takes no political positions.

JCC, the former non-group, is an organization of movers and shakers that tackle civic problems.  They don't make political endorsements (as a group), but they definitely play a part in local politics.
