The Colts game typically sells out though.

This schedule is a gift from the NFL. The teams we play were decided long ago so complaining about how difficult the schedule is is a waste of time.

If the Jags & Colts are in a battle for the division like last year - this game could get flexed to Sunday night.
And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.

Looking at the schedule, we could get out to a fast start. The titans are a mess right now. They have a rookie head coach and no QB (literally). I will almost guarantee a win in week one.

And playing Carolina and Cincinnati early doesn't hurt.

If that happens would they be able to have the stadium ready for the Gator Bowl the next day?

Will it be ready either way? The GBA cannot be happy.

I'm sure they were consulted...perhaps the big bowl games will be played on Saturday December 31st this year

What makes you think that they were consulted?  I don't think the NFL gives a Fk about the NCAA.

Do they erect (haha) the temporary seats for the Gator Bowl (like FL/GA)?

because the NFL (and other sports) always consult with the teams/stadiums regarding booked events when making the schedule.

That's great.  Do you think that the stadium rep would turn down an event?

I'm not claiming to have anything other than an opinion, but if I KNEW the Gator Bowl was going to be here for the 31st or 1st and the NFL offered me a game a day before or after, I'd make it happen.  My bet would be that the GBA was told after the fact - and to make it happen.  That's why I suggested LSU / Purdue  -  Home of the Mannings (LA) v/s Indiana's school - you have a real opportunity to get a lot more people in town for a longer period.  The Colts' people coming down with the college people - normally they wouldn't, but now it's a 4 day event.

Not only that, the NFL and Gatorbowl association have contracts with the city and Everbank Field. So I am sure this has all been worked out logistically already. The right knows what the left hand is doing

The same thing happened in 2006.  The Jags hosted the Titans on January 1, and Louisville played Virginia Tech the next day (the infamous Marcus Vick stomp game).  The GBA managed to pull that game off.  If I recall, the Outback Bowl had a similar issue that year, with the Bucs playing a home game the day before.  I think the Bucs game may have been at night to boot.

And that Jags-Titans game was a 4 oclock game too. Really a meaningless game but we kicked the crap out of them. The second half was mostly just 60k people chanting "FISHER SUCKS!".

Yes after that MNF beat down, we deserve to put an extra nail in their coffin and get the last laugh. And that MJD stiff arm was the best!!
