Yep, I have a Republican friend who sent me an email about this.

"Mike Hogan just made this easy for me.  How can I get a Brown sign for my yard?"

Yeah, us Republicans said the same thing about Bush after his first term, but no matter how much we detested his domestic policies, we still could not bring ourselves to vote for Kerry and Edwards.

I've been a Republican all my voting life and will have no problem bringing myself to vote for Brown.

Such foolishness, shakes head.............party before country, or party before city in this case.

Republicans often seem to have that habit of preferring more damage by a Republican, than to bring themselves to vote for a Democrat. ::)

How rational is that?

Obama seemed to have bucked that trend and was just 1% short of carrying Duval county.

I just think that the Hogan hug with Rick Scott is enough to give us the 1,500 votes that 1% entails in a majoral race in Duval county.

Lighten up people, the votes haven't even started yet.

Regardless of who gets elected I would like either candidate to embrace all the issues, not just the ones that are stereotyped.

4 years is a lot of time. The panic is justified.

This "endoresement" may sway a noticeable number of Republicans, so I would hope for y'all.

ROTFLMAO!!!!

11/7/2000 elections, while interesting names abound on it, showed Bush/Cheney crushing Gore/Lieberman, after the recount and absentee ballots, 57 to 41 percent in Duval County. That was way more than 1%. Interestingly enough in 2000, there were ONLY 423,967 registered voters, but there was a 68% turnout. Then in 2004, Bush defeated Kerry 57 to 41, AGAIN. With 515,000 registered voters and a 73% turnout. Then in 2008, McCain beat Obama 50.53% to 48.63%, with a 77.8% turnout and 536,000 registered voters. So 68%, 73% and then almost 78% turnout in national elections.

So that brings us to the local races. In 2003, Peyton's first election, he won with just under 50% of the public voting. 230,954 people voted. 2007 was a big joke with only 9% turnout, since Peyton ran unopposed. Then our last election with only 514,000 registered voters, we had 29.7% show up and vote, or just over 152,000.

What the Democrats complain about here is the whole issue with members of their own party taking votes away when Nat Glover ran against Peyton. Go check the results for the newbies here, Peyton was in 2nd place and that is when Carlucci tried to throw his almost 20% of the vote to Glover who, if that worked, would have had nearly 90,000 votes, plenty to outpace Weinstein and Peyton combined. But that was not to pass as Glover and Carlucci did not have enough pull with Democrats to get them to the polls and the Republicans beat them by about 40,000 votes. Glover did get his 96,000 votes, but Peyton had 133,000, again with near 50% turnout.

I doubt we see 50% turnout for this election.
