Sorry metrojacksonville, I refuse to comment in a thread that argues in favor of "same old, same old"

I thought we all favor Progress for Jacksonville................with all the complaining around, you'd think we were finally ready for PROGRESS rather than perpetual REGRESSION.

So in advance of tomorrow's piece by you on Alvin's positives, here is my take on how simple math favors Alvin:

Quotethe spread in the just held election was just 9% between Alvin Brown and his resulting opponent

25% for Alvin Brown 37,362
vs  34% for "same old, same old" 52,036

Out of a total of 152,000 votes.

As Stephen Dare has said: a whopping 66% of the voters rejected "same old, same old"

Who do you LOVE?

I am sure Audrey Moran's voters, who hated "same old, same old" are going to come out and vote Alvin Brown, even if it's just so "same old, same old" doesn't win.

I hope Audrey will do the courageous and right thng for Jax: Endorse the Future, and reject "same old, same old" aka "THE PAST"

I am hopeful not sure of anything. Let's work hard to make this happen.  If you can contribute to Alvin's campaign.

This is Audrey Moran's chance to back up her claim that she believes that our city should rise above partisan politics.  This is her chance to make a real difference - the kind that she wanted to make for our city.  Give your supporters a reason to go out and vote in May.

I have heard that some of Audrey's supporters are "offended" that Hogan reached out to Mullaney's supporters but not them....and while many will vote for Alvin (and may even support him privately), I doubt that many of the big-money folks will publicly endorse/support Alvin.

Interesting!

Here are some other anti "same old, same old" statements that were made:

Former Councilman Matt Carlucci said he doesn't remember Hogan as a leader and worries about his vision for the city's future. Carlucci also supports Moran.

"I don't think he has the fire in his belly to be mayor," Carlucci said.

Carlucci said Hogan's concerns were primarily limited to basic services, such as repairing potholes, drainage and parks.

"He never really grew in his view of the importance of downtown development and broader range issues like that," Carlucci said.

Hogan's controversial stands included being one of four councilmen to vote against the initial lease for Touchdown Jacksonville - the group trying to bring an NFL team to town - after the city's general counsel and council auditor recommended against it.

He also opposed using taxpayer money to commission art in public places and advocated funding Westside drainage fixes rather than the Northbank Riverwalk.

Former Mayor Jake Godbold, a long-time supporter whose endorsement Hogan was hoping to land, said Hogan's strengths include his honesty and constituent service.

But Godbold said he knows plenty of people who are worried that Hogan will send the city backwards.
