Mike Hogan had his "Macaca moment" and he's history. Nice knowin' ya.

Captain Zissou

That's a bold strategy, Cotton.  We'll see how it plays out for him.

Don't say that...look at what we got for a governor...

I honestly believe he feels he is so far ahead and will win, why bother participating in debates and forums when he could say or do something to screw up his chances. He is backing his way into the mayor's office.

This exactly what it is.  When I was organizing the District 5 candidates forum, one of the guys who I was trying to get a commitment from, told me this:

"When you are out in front, you don't have to debate in public".  Being politically naive as I am, I asked him to repeat himself just in case I misheard.  I did not and wrote it down.  Needless to say, he didn't show up for the forum.

Perhaps it is a good strategy for getting elected.  It is a horrible attitude for a potential public servant to have, however.  There is not much that turns me off more than arrogance.  I can handle people who disagree with me, in fact, I would rather talk to people who disagree, because it gets boring pretty quick when we all just sit around and nod heads.  But for someone to be unwilling to even discuss their opinions?  That is lame and just shows me that they lack confidence in being able to defend their position.

Jacksonville needs a leader with vision that can engage and inspire its citizens.
We don't need another do-nothing charged with holding the fort down, so to speak.

I think this is great, maybe they'll film the podium for about 10 seconds when it would be Hogans turn.
