This is exciting!  Only 4 days away!

I can't stress enough how important it is to have gloves.  Tools aren't really needed, as we're not yet that far into the cleaning process.  Boots, Gloves, a smile, and some elbow grease are all you need to be a big help!!!

I'm going to bring water bottles and maybe some munchies for people.

Perhaps some day, with storm water fee monies and other elements of commitment firmly in place, the city will provide routine monitor and cleaning maintainence of River City water bodies.

It will be interesting to watch the Fishweir Creek restoration proposal unfold in this regard-previously unheard of designated city refuse inflow catch and discard maintainance a key recommendation during Fishweir project scoping.

Note past Ron Littlepage editorials in pre storm water fee era regarding Fishweir Creek trash impacts at Hamilton Street- the gist being that only 'higher taxes' would enable city involvement.
Now what??

Actually, it might be beneficial to bring a shovel and maybe a hacksaw.  That hatchet we had last time was pretty handy... Also, if you have waders you can definitely put them to use if you don't have access to a kayak.

I too am interested to help. What time will people be meeting up? And, will it happen rain or shine?

9AM, rain or shine.  Believe me you will get dirty so a little rain isn't going to make things any worse :)

Come on out.  You'll have a good time, its free and it will help our community.  The amount of wildlife in the Hogan basin is eye opening and fascinating.

I went around my neighborhood a few times simply pocking trash up off the ground. It's simple but rewarding work. I encourrage everyone to do that in their own neighborhoods as well. It sure makes it look like there are people that care about their communities, and here in JAX we can really use that image..

Nobody let me use the hatchet!!??  Proper ropes might be a good idea too.  We may have to lasso a few shopping carts out of the creek with the truck.

Amen to that.  The wildlife blew me away.  Noone and Field say it all the time;  'Lets stop talking about it and Do it!'  I changed from a critic to a devoted follower after I spent 2 hours by the creek.

I have waders, gloves, and will bring a mix of tools that may help.

My experience with this creek is only the part that runs through the parks in Springfield, so I am looking forward to seeing more of it.

Hi everyone! We are a local (St. Augustine) outdoor clothing company, River Ocean. We heard about these cleanups through one of our friends and think this is super awesome.  We are going to try and have a River Ocean team there on Saturday at 9am ready to clean up our River!  Thank you all for being such wonderful community members who care about our waters.

Enjoy the Water...

Thanks Elizabeth!

Does anyone know any Riverkeepers that want to help??  So far the list of philanthropic organizations with members involved is SOS, SurfRider Foundation, Enjoy The Water Foundation, Jacksonville Rotaract, River City Renewal, 'Friends of Hogan's Creek'......Any Others?

Wacca Pilatka

I wonder if Cowford Traders would promote these cleanups as part of its Riverkeeper display in the store?
The tourist would realize at once that he had struck the Land of Flowers - the City Beautiful!
