to each their own...I do like Al's but I think Pizza Palace is terrible

Amen! Do they know what cheese is at pizza palace? I get like 3 shreds per slice everytime I go there.

I'd rather have a Renna's or Brooklyn Pizza in Riverside instead. But obviously people do like their food, they wouldn't have two locations open one mile apart if they didn't!

Don't get me started on "Pizza Palace"..... >:( First of all if you don't like the taste of Anice or Licorice..you won't like their "Sysco in a 5 gallon bucket sauce"...People please travel out of town and sample the food!!!..this is more directed at the 20 something generation that I see dutifully eating there..If you don't know any better and don't know how to cook for yourself then I guess you think that tastes good. I have to take my out of town guests out of Riverside for simple fare.I'm not looking for boutique food or Crap..just a fair amount of Decent food at a Fair price, at a reasonable hour...(don't close at 9PM on a Sat night..Take a chance and forget what your projected earnings software says. )

Ernest Street, what restaurants would you suggest taking guest to for decent food at a decent price.

What type of food are your looking for and what exactly is a decent price?  I think one of the most continuously overlooked places in Jacksonville is The Corner Brasserie.  Each entree is in the 20-30 dollar range, but it's well worth it.  The new kabob place in san marco is just ok, and way too expensive for what you get.  If you live near the beach I would reccoment Barbara Jean's or Giovanni's.

My safe bets for out of town Guests are Bistro Aix, Pom's in San Marco, and of Course Genes seafoods are always a good Family place. Oh...Harpoon Louie's has been a consistent favorite with some friends. I'm still looking on the southside.Lakelander,What are your Favorites for Fair price and decent portions?

I'm open, I just like visiting places with decent servings at affordable prices.  An affordable range for me would be $10 to $20 for an entree.

Some of my local favorites include Babara Jeans (Ponte Vedra), Soul Food Bistro (Normandy Mall), Beachside Seafood Market (Jax Beach), Singleton's (Mayport), Moon River Pizza (Murray Hill), Al's Pizza (Five Points), Clark's Fish Camp (Mandarin) and MoJo BBQ (Southside).

Go to Mossfire Grill or the Casbah.  Both have reasonable prices and a pretty good atmosphere.

Kickbacks isn't bad for what you get. It doesn't cost anymore than a regular sitdown chain restaurant.

Nicky G's is pretty good. I am glad that people are actually going. I went there last January right before the Jags prep rally at the Landing and my brother and I were the only customers.

Kickbacks has certainly improved the menu since they opened in that you don't have to be drunk to enjoy the taste.  For mornings after heavy drinking, The Fox in Avondale always hits the spot.

Any updates on the space Nicky G's occupied? I know the owners were selling on craigslist last I checked, but that seems like ages ago now. With Ivy bar open next door, it seems like someone should give that space another shot(specifically late at night). Bay street is hungry!

I concur with both, I get the Chicken Africas (tenders but they are shaped like Africa, so.....) all the time!!!
