The 7-year-old Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, home of the Class AA Jacksonville Suns, staged the ACC Tournament from 2005 to 2008. The ACC averaged 6,407 fans in its four championship games in Jacksonville, all without local draw Florida State.

In sessions involving Florida State, Jacksonville regularly reported crowds exceeding 10,000 fans, including 17,860 for a Florida State-North Caro­lina game. Other games drew far fewer fans than most SEC games in Hoover. Jacksonville unsuccessfully bid last year for the 2011-13 ACC Tournament.

There was a article about this in the local rag...Atlanta my try to use Turner Field in the bid...I hope Jax gets it though.

Jacksonville got screwed with the ACC baseball tournament. The tournament went great but the ACC tried to get cute and hold the tournament at Fenway Park in Boston and at the last minute, the ACC was notified that Fenway was unavailable. Jacksonville wanted to bid again but the Suns schedule was already set and the Baseball Grounds were unavailable. They ended up playing in NC that year and have played in that state ever since.

The SEC tourney would be nice. I hope we can get it.

Besides Atlanta is an SEC town with the SEC football championships there. It sells out every year. Why move it anywhere, if not Atlanta (Duluth)?
