June?  Can't ski in June!

Uh? Who says? Last trip I made over Cumbres Pass at 10,022 feet, (in June) on the Cumbres and Toltec narrow gauge railway, it was snowing so damn hard we couldn't see the engine!

keep in mind there was a direct Frontier Airlines flight frm Jax to Denver a few years ago...it wasn't exactly successful.

It made very few connections since Frontiers' network was pretty small.  Southwest however is much larger and has more options.

While Delta's LAX service died on the vine, this offers a much more flexible option for JIA headed to the west coast. Hartsfield is too crowded, DFW was too expensive.

Overall this is a bigger win for Jax.

You can ride their bus rapid transit line on 16th Street instead.

Bus? Unsexy no thanks

actually you'll find quite a few people on those buses...especially the downtown shuttle, because it is free

Ah! But you forget my friend...  It's BRT! "As good as rail - only cheaper..." (Though I'd have to admit that these idiots didn't think of the definition of the word CHEAP when they came up with that lie).

Absolutely agreed!
Denver is a big connector with the West Coast and will offer a great amount of flexibility for those looking to go from Jax to the West Coast.  Hell, this will make visiting my sister in Seattle a half day trip instead of a 10 hour trip, and my flights to LA will be WAY easier than going through DFW.

There was an ad in the T-U today announcing new Southwest service to/from JIA and Las Vegas.

Southwest has flown direct to Vegas for about 2 years.  It's not a new flight, but it is definitely my favorite out of JIA. :)

Just want to plug Delta here too.. Just started service three times daily to Washington-Reagan (DCA) and effective 26MAR new service four times daily to Miami.
