I'd be happy if someone stood up and said we can't afford to extend ANY of the Bush tax cuts

If it was combined with spending cuts to produce a real budget surplus which was then used to pay down the national debt, I could live with that.

Agree forget the  Bush tax cuts and cut the spending on foreign wars, nation building and multinational corporate give aways. Use that money to pay some debt.
