I say put a large digital LED sign on top of it! and show the Jaguars games live!!! that will show Bill Brinton!!!!!

I thought one of the possibilities for the new Barnett Building was an LED sign.  Also, what happened to the LED thingies on the Main Street Bridge that were working during the Super Bowl?   ::)

They are still there, but are no longer maintained. As soon as they wore out, they never replaced them.

Once in awhile you will see the few that are left.

Isn't it cute.

The issue I have with is how dark and empty the skyline is. They started shutting off more and more lights to "save energy" because JEA has a nice monopoly. Remove the Modis logo, remove another skyline trademark.

I like those pictures very much, the skyline looks nice without it. Thats my opinion and I am sticking to it.
SunRail, Florida's smart transit idea. :) (now up on the chopping block) :(

Couldn't we just put a lighted "Jacksonville" up there, possibly in the same font and style as the old Independent Life sign?

That would be nice!

As I've said, I do think it looks nice, but it'll just remove something else within the skyline. If we could replace it with something cooler, like I think someone else suggested a giant OLED sign? That would be neat (but if we get rid of the sign now to get rid of the "giant billboard" it would kind of defeat the purpose if they start showing real advertisements on it). Especially if they started lighting up the top of the Bank of America tower again, along with the signs on the Main Street Bridge. Rumor I heard was they were taken down because they were distracting to drivers which caused traffic. Not that they're unmanageable.

I think a giant lighted sign of "Jacksonville" would be nice, or maybe an OLED screen with "Jacksonville" in animated font? When I drove back from P.A. it was the first thing I saw. The Modis tower, that is. Pretty nifty ideas.

Also something else I think would be neat. I saw it downtown once. A giant projection on one of the buildings. The name of said building avoids me right now, but it'd be cool if they were to show movies up there via projection.

That is such a shame. That looked really nice and I too notice they were gone. Gosh the city is so cheap. Smh

If the Modis company left for the burbs it needs to come down asap!! Then they can put the proper name on it.

My preference is with the sign.  I supposed I'd get use to blank if I had to.

Only in Jacksonville would ultra-exposed, ultra-visible, prime downtown signage go vacant.

Did the CSX sign get approved?  I think that was visual blight.

Back in the 50's, 60's, and even into the 70's Jacksonville had a sign on most of its tall buildings.  Now, we are the biggest city in Florida that's almost devoid of signage on the skyscrapers.  Tampa has signs on its scrapers, and so does Miami in addition to lighting them up at night in many different ways.  I think the MODIS sign should stay.  To me it's awesome and "in your face" when new visitors or tourists see it.

I think it would look much better if they would turn all of that excessive space at the top into something like the PECO building in downtown Philadelphia.

THIS IS HOW YOU WILL HAVE TO DO IT....
