LOL, is the guy with the blower just blowing the debris from the installation around versus sweep it up?  Is that how we keep our streets "clean"?  Just push the "garbage" around, never take it away?  ;D

Or is the blower to dry the glue holding the whole thing up, together, and in place for today's ceremony?

Not bad, come on considering JTA this could've really been bad.

CS Foltz

If JTA was not involved.............think we could do better?

I think the shelter is quite nice...it includes a route map, bike rack, ad space, space for a wheelchair....and it appears to be powerd by a solar panel.

Tufsu, we are not surprised that this is your opinion.   :D  Tell us something we don't know.  LOL.
Hey!  Whatever happened to just plain ol' COMMON SENSE!!

tufsu1

have either of you gone down and checked out the shelter in person?

Nope.............according to Mr Millers letter, the new ones were to be used for the BRT route! But as long as your checking.........do you by chance know just what one costs? And just where is this one located?

CS...the ones that will be used along the BRT route are still being designed.

The one installed this week (at the NE corner of Bay and Main) is the style that will be used on non-BRT streets downtrown....there are supposed to be 24 new shelters installed.

As for cost, I don't know for sure....but it seems like it would be less than $10,000 each...and yes, I sure hope that the shelters they replace will get re-installed in other parts of town.

CS Foltz

Ok ....thanks for the info! I will be making a visit..............what will they cost?

RAH! The ones on the BRT will feature different paint!

Looking at the position of said shelter, sure hope there is room for a wheelchair bound person to transit around the silly thing! Not sure what the total cost of the whole thing is but if you say its about 10K tufsu, I will take you at your word! It makes me wonder just what labor costs are per structure are? We had this coversation awhile back, when JTA was bitching and moaning about costs per shelter, so like you, they had darn well better refurbish and reinstall the ones that are pulled out!

CS...don't make the same mistake stjr did....when possible, the ideal location for a bus shelter is at the back of the sidewalk...allowing peoiple to walk in front...in this case, there's probably at least 10 feet between the shelter and the curb, plenty enough room for a wheelchair.

They are just the most awesome structures JTA has ever devised... This should increase ridership .0005 %
