Deco Bistro Now Open

Read elsewhere on MJ that Deco Bistro place is already out of business.  Ate there a couple of times for business lunches.  I thought the food was adequately good at lunch but it was too richly priced for the area's everyday lunch crowd.  Service was a bit off too and the awkward and poorly marked step down at the entrance wasn't too clever.   This place needed business style lunches (and top notch service) to float these prices and I don't think 5 Points tops the locations for that.  Maybe, if they lasted a few years they could have pulled in their own crowd.

Parking for lunch at 5 Points can also be an issue if there are too many restaurants serving lunch.  I guess without this place and Fu Hao on the corner anymore, that may be less of an issue but the Italian place seems to be a mainstay.  More than once, I have circled the block.  The business lunch crowd isn't going  to go for that at the prices that were being asked.

Lastly, did this place do any marketing or create a buzz?  I only found it by walking from my parking spot one day on the way to Fu Hao.
Hey!  Whatever happened to just plain ol' COMMON SENSE!!

What Italian place?

I live in Riverside and hardly ever eat here.  I like the restaurants in San Marco, Avondale and downtown better.

Here you go, 9a.  Eaten here many times for lunch and an easy place to go to get a full stomach with decent, but not award winning, food at a fair price.  No atmosphere though.  Just your typical neighborhood "easy Italian fix" joint.  Never had dinner there so can't speak for that but probably more of the same.

Avondale is part of Riverside. Saying "I don't eat in Riverside I eat in Avondale" sounds silly.

They are not kidding about the "same setting" for over 30 years. That place looked horrible (and we ate there often) when I was in high school in the 80's. The decor etc looked 30 years old then. Food was decent...liked their house dressing... and yes you will not leave hungry and prices are quite budget friendly.  Does the Sicilian version of the "Soup Nazi" still run the place?

^^^^^^and it is always a plus to be (probably) the only joint in town where you can pick chicken livers to go with your pasta and red sauce.   :)

That's what I was thinking of but I always assumed it was closed.  I'll have to check it out sometime

I guess I should have said 5 Points to be more accurate.  I don't know what the 'official' boundaries are, but I consider Riverside and Avondale to be separate neighborhoods.
