Anyone been to the above mentioned restaurant? I hear great things...

Considering we technically live in the South, I find myself hard-pressed to get an opinion on any consistently good soul food restaurant. I'm sick of asking, and getting some reply like 'Beach Road Chicken!'.

None of these places serve oxtail or peach cobbler...
And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.

Sorry.. I was trying to put a little humor out...  MMMM Peach Cobbler!!!!

Potter's House is awesome! Where I work, we go there as often as possible for lunch. Just be aware that the line can back up quite a bit during lunch hour as it's a cafeteria style restaurant, but the food and the service is outstanding. Definitely a Jax must.

My internet skills have gone down quite a bit recently, and for some reason I can't find their online menu OR hours. Anyone have a link/ideas?

Curious if they are open for dinner, and if so, is it the same buffet style layout?

It's too bad The Old South on Atlantic isn't still around, but Potter's does make some good stuff. Those of us lucky enough to have been raised in the South don't really call it soul food though. To us it's just country food that was made especially on Sundays.

Soul Food Bistro is amazing!  The coworkers and myself try to make it out there at least once a week.  The entrees are fresh, the sides are great and the sweet tea has enough sugar to put holes in your teeth.

Simply put, it is a treat to go there.

Everyone that works there is really nice too.  If you haven't been, please make an effort.  I don't think you will be disappointed.

I can think of at least a half dozen restaurants where the Sweet tea will give you a sugar buzz.. but I get what you're saying .. :)

Try Brothers on Edgewood near Broadway. They have oxtail and other southern delicacies.

I hear that's good too. Never tried it even though I work just around the corner.

Yes they are very good. I go there all the time because that is my church.  lol the prices are reasonable. The most expensive things are the oxtails, but they pile them on. Its definately worth the money. :)

I tried Justin's City Place Cafe on Ashley Street yesterday.  They serve Soul, Caribbean and Seafood.
