There are buildings at the beach that are less than 40 years old, made of steel and concrete, Seascape on 16th street, is facing terrible building issues with steel that is expanding due to the salt, wind, and sun. Be thankful most of PS4 is shaded from the sun in the PM. But nothing lasts forever.

I don't dislike the building, per se, I don't think it will be saved if still zone in Brooklyn, as no one cares about saving anything in Brooklyn. I would see if the council person could help get it rezoned to Riverside, Corrigan won't care, he barely does anything for the residents of District 14.
And, that $115 will save Jacksonville from financial ruin. - Mayor John Peyton

"This is a game-changer. This is what I mean when I say taking Jacksonville to the next level."
-Mayor Alvin Brown on new video boards at Everbank Field

Mtrain... for once I WILL AGREE WITH YOU , that nothing lasts forever.  And you well may be right that the School will come down as opposed to being saved and refurbished.   But your constant egging me about historic buildings that you do not see as savable has gone on and on and on. And to be quite frank with you, when I am one of those people that would go down and mow its yard, or paint over its columns or pick up trash from careless people and vagrants, I find it beyond insulting and a slap in the face , that you would sit on your ass and condemn.  Thus the immature posting earlier.

There are a multitude of reasons why School #4 is important to me...and maybe even to Wayne Wood..  But for me,, among the reasons are that my Mother attended the School when it was a Grammar School.  This means nothing to you.  this is profound to me...my Mother is deceased...from brain cancer.. a very rapid and deteriorating condition that took her out before she even had a chance to retire.  The School is a significant tool (and several like it in the surrounding Riverside area that still are in use), because an expressway was not put in front of them, defeating them as a School.    You are correct ...nothing lasts forever.... But go to Rome , or Paris , or London and look at the CENTURIES OLD  architecture that they dearly love and preserve and tell me that I AM WRONG for wanting to see a 90 year old School house preserved and some use identified.
Beside these cities, as a NATION , we have done a horrible job of preserving our historic fabric.  In this city, our famously insensative Leadership has razed so many significant pieces in FAR FAR better shape and FAR nicer than School #4.   And it seems to me ,that you follow or at least prefer that mindset.   You are entitled to your opinion, but STOP Stabbing ME for mine!  I am a historic building lover. Thank god I am not alone on this effort.
