Spiders are fascinating and some are beautifully colored.  Take a look at some of the little jumping spiders you have in your house with a magnifying class.  They are like little jewels.

Saw one of the huge bird-eaters in Townsville (also in Queensland just south of Cairns) and spent forty minutes watching it eat a really huge moth.  Absolutely freaked out some of the people I was with.  Australia has some really BIG insects.

Once in Southern Mexico I saw a small boy in the park with a bump running around under his shirt.  When I pointed and asked what it was, he pulled on a string that had a big, furry, handsome tarantula tied to the other end.  He was keeping it as a pet.
When all else fails hug the dog.

I love messing with the furry little jumping spiders.  When you poke a stick at them they throw up their front legs to make themselves look meaner.  Plus they're really cool looking.

Who couldn't love these funny faces?
