June is shaping up with a lot of special events and some great late movies.  And I thought people would like to know that we just booked The Big Lebowski for July 23rd.

Don't forget that we replay our Friday Late Night movies on Sunday afternoon.

Here's what we've got:

Friday, June 4th (and again on Sunday, June 6th) - the classic Full Metal Jacket

Sunday, June 6th at 4:30 pm - IRS Hitman - a premiere event for a TV series.

Friday, June 11th and Sunday the 13th - the truly bizarre Korean "kimchi western" The Good, The Bad, The Weird.  The trailer shows a mix of spaghetti western and Indiana Jones:

The week of June 18 we're doing all special events (and housecleaning).

Friday, June 18th - We are very excited to host the Funkadelic Disco Party fundraiser for JASMYN from 9 pm to 2 am.  If you don't know JASMYN, they're a neat group.  Check them out at www.jasmyn.org.  The theatre makes a great party space (I had my wedding reception there!)

Saturday, June 19th - We've got the Florida premiere of Astro Zombies M3 Cloned, the latest work by cult-film auteur Ted V. Mikels, which was largely shot in Daytona.  You know if you're into this kind of thing...

Sunday, June 20th - Blood Into Wine, a documentary about Tool lead singer Maynard Keenan and his attempts to found a winery in Arizona.

Thursday, June 24th we're going to be doing something interesting, involving the internet, and a live studio audience, and new media, etc. etc. etc.  I'll post more details as they become available.

Friday, June 25th and Sunday, June 27th we've got Star Trek 2 as our late movie.  This is obviously the best Star Trek movie, and in my opinion the only one that stands apart from the series as a great movie on its own.

And of course, Big Lebowski will be back on July 23rd.  You can buy tickets on our website here: http://www.5pointstheatre.com/movie/the-big-lebowski/.  When we showed it last year, we almost sold out, and the show was a total madhouse.  This year we're working to increase the fun, and trying to find some way to sell White Russians with a beer-and-wine license.

Jotting down Lebowski in pen on my calender now!

Is the event on the 24th the live show of the Urban Jacksonville Weekly?

5 Points Theatre

Yes.

And I finally figured out how to embed the trailers correctly.

I'm going to try to catch "Harry Brown" tonight. Michael Caine (who is always wonderful) plays a retired Marine who decides to take matters into his own hands after his best friend gets murdered by thugs. The trailer looks bad ass, check it out.
