Jim Bailey Kickoff: Solidity, Vision, Means Business

Jim Bailey is widely considered one of the front runners of the race for mayor. Solid, respectable, quietly powerful, and ready to step up to the plate. The publisher of the Daily Record (his grandfather's paper), longtime downtown advocate and bedrock member of the business and legal community kicked off his campaign with a brilliant buffet, open bar, and the sure and hard granite support of friends and family.

A lovely story.

Camelot. Right here in our own town. (I'm gushing)

Were any policy or political issues discussed, or was it just good friends, good food and good times?

Does Mr Baily share the (at large) views of MJ regarding transit, for instance?

Does he have a position regarding the current ethics situation at city hall, and does he support an ethics policy and enforcement officer with teeth?

AIMOs?

What is is take on bringing prosperity to the city? Recruit new businesses with the tactic of tax breaks for employers? Free land?

Lots of construction money in his camp. What can we expect from this? Will there be projects granted? subsidized? Open bid policy?

I ask because I want to know, and without the intent of insinuation.

Good video. He seems like a really viable candidate.

Hey Stephen, I was wearing a very fine JC Penny casual suit. Gimme some credit.

Some wear the emperors clothes better than others.

I'll get back to ya on Bailey.....at least he does not have any historical association with the government failures. Is there any way to get a conversation with him.......outside the rhetoric?

Stephen.......fine job with METRO........we need to get together over some martini's

Looks like it was a great event.  I wish I could have made it.  It would have been a high school reunion, lol.

I've said it before on here, Jim Bailey is a marvelous human being.  Stephen's comments “In the present, he is a Modern Gentleman, known for possessing the Southern Virtues without their liabilities. He is a man with a Compass.”... could not be a better description.

Thre great thing about this race is that we have some very fine candidates to choose from.  I seriously cannot wait for the new administration to start doing good work.

Was there a thousand word requirement to cover this event?  This event could've been described without so many adjectives.  It reads like the author favors Bailey over the other candidates.

Exactly. Like all five of the other republicans.  More less government, less spending, less taxes, equals more
$400 million deficit. And a crumbling metro, urban jax. thse "businessmen" have actually made the economy here
worse, in one of the most promising regions of the country.

Chanel, Hugo Boss, and the occasional Ungaro, vs A&F, Tommy Hilfiger and the occasional Polo... as near as I can sum it up.

The Cast of Dynasty vs Luke, Leia and the Rebel Alliance.

The Movie versions would have Anthony Hopkins, William Hurt, Meryl Streep, Rachel Davis at the Bailey event, and Morgan Freeman, Chris Rock, Geena Davis, and Susan Sarandon at the Glorious Johnson kickoff.

The best is o'neill -- maybe quicksilver.  Its all about style.

But, love Steven's method of perceptually mapping candidates.

Besides the enthusiasm, the other refreshing thing about this Mayoral race is the wide variety of folks running for the office.  For once we are not confronted with the choice of either the crazy person or the puppet.  There are real, solid choices out there.  Fantastic!
