Campaign reports filed Monday were the lull among two roars in the high-stakes race to be Jacksonville's mayor in 2011.

In January, it was the first look at who three big-name candidates tapped for their early donations.

Come July, the curtain will be pulled for the four new candidates who entered since April 1.

Monday's reports lacked the sizzle but saw two Republican frontrunners continuing to lead the way in the money race.

Audrey Moran, president of the Sulzbacher Center for the homeless, raised $54,000 in the last three months and has collected $226,000 since joining the race last fall.
Tax Collector Mike Hogan topped Moran this quarter with $69,000 and has raised $179,000 so far.

Moran and Hogan released their totals last week, with Moran touting her overall lead and Hogan proclaiming victory for the quarter.

Councilman Kevin Hyde, also a Republican, continued to lag behind, raising about $15,000 this quarter - bringing his total to $62,000. Hyde raised only a few hundred dollars more than he spent last quarter, primarily on consultants, records show.

Hyde said he expects the money to even out as the election gets closer.

Mr Hyde has a snowballs chance in hell.........and rightfully so! Since Mr Hogan seems to ignore valid questions regarding Ethics..........I have crossed him off of my list and I don't know enough about Ms Moran to have an opinion ...yet!

Don't know if anyone noticed in today's paper, Mike Tolbert who was used to help Peyton win in 2003, just left the Jim Bailey campaign and would not discuss why.

Interesting. Bailey needs all the help from people who elected nobody from nowheres to the position. This cannot be good for his campaign.
And, that $115 will save Jacksonville from financial ruin. - Mayor John Peyton

Our city is BROKE.

Is the money deciding your vote?

Whoever raises the most money will donate it to the Billion dollar pension liabilty thats facing the taxpaying citizens of Jacksonville. Is this part of the answer on how to address our out of control pension obligations.

We are burying a former mayor today. We'll be electing a new one soon. Ask right now every candidate should the Code of Etics that was in our original charter and removed four years later be reinstated? This was a recommendation of the Charter Revision Commission. They meet once every 10 years. This is a key potential voting concern for the people of Jacksonville that needs to be addressed immediately.

Thats my two cents. I haven't donated to anyone yet. But someone will be getting my vote.
