Mullaney Kicks off Campaign With Substance

General Counsel Rick Mullaney kicked off his surprising campaign speech with a bit of a bang last night on the Jacksonville Riverfront beneath a statue dedicated to Tillie Fowler. With the people and supporters in attendance, Mullaney established himself as a major candidate with a real shot at taking the Mayor's Office.

Thanks a lot guys.  Your early coverage of this race has been nothing short of stellar, and I look forward to every new installment.  I was not on the site during the last mayoral election... is there ultimately going to be a MetroJacksonville "Endorsement" a la a newspaper editorial board?

oh, for Heaven's sakes...I think it is great he did it at the riverwalk.  Downtown.

hanjin1

hopefully he has a good vision for downtown and springfield

I think that was a great location.  The kids in the front row seats look bored to death.

Concur!  Nice touch on his part.  Maybe it's setting the backdrop (pardon the pun) for the rest of his candidacy?

Mullaney rhymes with Delaney..... he's a sure shot.  ;D

Stephen, I really enjoyed your writeup as always, particularly the evocative description of the backdrop at the beginning.  It sure seems like there are a lot of quality candidates this time around with Mr. Mullaney, Ms. Moran, Glorious, and Jim Bailey in the fold...I don't know who to root for...

Stephen,
A most masterful, descriptive report.Illuminating details on 'the crowd' go missing in most 'reports' however you bear down on that detail.Wonderful, keep at it.

lewyn

I don't see a lot of substance in the video interview- just statements that Jacksonville has a lot of potential, education is good etc.  What am I missing?

stephendare............more to the point would be "what does Mr Mullaney think of the Mobility Plan"? Lewyn's point of view would be real nice also!

CS Foltz

Good point stephendare! Lewyn's opinion would be most appreciated from a proffesionals point of view or as an interested bystander.........Rick's opion is critical since he is the one running for Mayor..........along with his stance on "Ethics" and that most assuredly interest's me!
