QuoteThe St. Joe Company (NYSE: JOE) will move its corporate headquarters from Jacksonville to Bay County the Panhandle where the company is building a large development anchored by the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport, the company announced today.

St. Joe’s headquarters in Jacksonville is in a riverfront, blue-roofed building on Riverside Avenue in the Brooklyn neighborhood near downtown.

St. Joe said it will bring together offices from Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Port St. Joe and Walton County in the planned headquarters relocation. Construction of about 50,000 square feet of office space will start this summer and the relocation of the headquarters and employees will be done by summer 2011.

The relocation will put St. Joe’s headquarters in the an area where the company owns a large amount of land, giving St. Joe the ability to “build on its real estate and economic development successes in the Northwest Florida region,” the company said in its announcement.

The headquarters will be near the entrance of the airport scheduled to open in May.
