Global cities, Megacities & Jacksonville

I have been reading what defines a global city & megacity. The definitions seem to be population based. It seems that be in that catagory the Jacksonville population would need to be 10 million people. It seems Jax will take a long time to reach that number.

As fun as it is to visit such metropolitan areas, I don't mind not living in a city not as densely populated.

Seriously,list doesn't make any sense and neither population statistic.
List doesn't make any sense,LA below Caracas or Dublin etc.
Population wise there is tons of cities in China and India that are multimillionaire cities yet most people never heard of them.

I say all has to do with PR.Hoolywood made many US cities famous worldwide more thru movies then anything else.
If they made movie where Jax was center of action,it would be famous too.

I've never seen either of them, but as I understand it, Jacksonville is a (very extraneous) part of the story. Plus, one of the main supporting actresses is from Jax. She is the hot one.  So there are connections...

I think it's safe to say Jax probably won't ever reach that number. It took 60 years for South Florida to grow from 600,000 to 5 1/2 million. And that's thanks to an enormous amount of money, immigration, a Hollywood type spotlight, films, tourism, etc.

The appeal of Jax is being a quieter, more hometown USA-ish place, with just enough of nearby ammenities of the bigger cities nearby.

I think most of the people here do not want to change all that is Jacksonville. We have great rural and suburban areas. We just lack that urban compliment and the smart growth plans that would sustain all three lifestyles.

I didn't mean to be mention somewhere in movie but to be center of action,like Miami vice for Miami,LA and NY have been mention in almost all movies or center of action for many.
Denver was made famous internationally for from Dynasty then anything else.
They need to a make a movie or even soap opera which will make Jax center of attention.
Maybe episode of suburban housewives or something.

Why? What does it have to warrant that?

People want to film in LA, NY and Miami because they're extremely wealthly and beautiful locales and all the "beautiful people".

The positive trait of Jax is that it's NOT the center of attention, thus it's a place where things can progress and grow slowly and quietly - ie - a family.

Unless your Tiger Woods, then you're just SOL.
