QuoteDOWNTOWN -- Work on Berkman Plaza II may resume in three weeks, despite several liens recently filed against the project, a developer's representative said.

Construction of the 23-story condominium tower and six-story parking garage came to a tragically abrupt stop Dec. 6 when the adjacent garage collapsed as workers poured cement on the top level. The collapse killed one worker.

Since then, the site at 500 E. Bay St. has been the scene of a U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration investigation.

Evin Willman, a representative of The Harbor Cos., said the developer tentatively expects to get word from OSHA that the project can resume construction in the coming weeks. The garage will then be demolished and construction of the adjoining tower is expected to continue shortly thereafter. OSHA Jacksonville Area Director James Borders declined to comment on the investigation.

I wonder if the units will come down in price in light of all of this.

However, I bet HOA will increase, because of insurance going up.  I'm sure the insurance company will look for any excuse to raise rates.

Have you looked at the new garage design? Wow, the top floor will be surrounded by a metal rail with large clips. To these clips will be attached giant helium balloons...
