Many people from war suffer from PTSD regardless if they are soldiers or civilian,that doesnt mean you want to kill someone.
There is big difference between those that kill and that don't.
It's called justice.

Soldiers who fought for wrong reasons,like Vietnam where you invaded someone elses house or any war which turns out to be fought for false reasons...thats where you get disgruntled soldiers.

In Bosnia where there was 4 year war which makes Afghanistan and Iraq like a joke,murders are RARE.
Former soldiers "snapping" are rare too.Most people fought for freedom and existance and even that they seen ugly things,most do not go crazy.Simply they fought for justice.Same thing you will see with soldiers from WW2.Most fought for justice.
You got lot more soldiers that snap in Serbia and Croatia simply because many of them were part of war that wasnt just,they were bad guys at the end.

Same thing with US soldiers fighting in Gulf,Afghanistan,Iraq...they see people killed,come back but they dont understand WHY did they fight,why those people died.They got no valid justification for their sufferings.
That is why you have high rate of suicide,soldiers snapping and killing families etc.

That is why you in Bosnia you have barely any cases of soldiers going crazy.Believe it or not,murder rate in Bosnia is 4 times lower then in US (and that includes mafia which is more then here) even that majority of population is SEVERELY traumatized from war and went thru lot worse things that many who do snap here.

Sometimes its good to fight for whats right.

Probably a worthwhile study there.  Fighting forces today are generally older than just a few decades ago.  Often, at least in US forces, women are present in camp.  Definitely a changing situation.

So how do you guys explain high rate of suicides by US soldiers in current wars and that not all soldiers around world/different wars behave in same manner?
