Metro Jacksonville crashes the Downtown BRT Party



At a recent public meeting held at the Main Library Downtown by the Jacksonville Transit Authority, members of MetroJacksonville.com's editorial board were able to meet, greet and ask questions about the controversial 'mass transit' plan currently being proposed by the Authority.

This is a really nice and well thought out presentation.  Too bad that the people who are being paid to do this don't have 1/100 th the talent, skill, experience or ability of your group. Thats why Jacksonville is in a virtual last place among large American cities; complete lack of vision and ability of its leaders.

Will Jacksonville ever learn from its past? We aren't Denver yet, and until we are at that point, we cannot risk shutting an entire street off...one of the densest in the core. It's just as if the loop system was never put in to place and is totally being overlooked. Why NOT use State and Union? They are already "downtown expressways" ...and we cannot afford to loose any more historical buildings.

Hi, Art Graham will be the guest at the Beaches Watch meeting tonight.  The residents of the beach communities will  be sympathetic to the principle of supporting rather than destorying walkable retail neighborhoods.  What should we ask the Councilmember about BRT?
