I think Cowher is highly unlikely.

Dungy would be good but doubtful also.

These notions of Dungy and Cowher coming here are just silly.  It's never as simple as "bring 'em in here", or else Cowher, Dungy, Gruden, Brian Billick, etc....wouldn't be behind a desk, or in a booth.  They are where they are because that's where they want to be.  Why don't we fans just be fans, and do what fans are supposed to do: watch and support, and stop trying to influnce things.  All these fans seem to think they know so much about football and the inner workings of this and that...why aren't any of you working for some team somewhere?  It's frustrating to me.

Because it's exciting to entertain the possibilities... and the ultra-intelligent fan such as yourself should know that coaches revolve between commentator, analyst, general manager and head coach all the time.

And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.

Forgot about Dungy, but I agree may be a little earlier unless the "price is right" (COME ON DOWN!).

Cowher looks good to me, also a proven track record; what about Dan Reeves?  He's too old I guess and the game has probably "passed him by."

Of the eight coaches left in the NFL playoffs, only two (Norv Turner and Wade Phillips) are not in their first head coaching position. The Jaguars need to hire a young coordinator if Del Rio is gone. Try to find the next John Harbaugh, Ken Whisenhunt or Sean Peyton.

QuoteI could see Cowher coming to the Jags.

No chance.  He is looking to gp to a team that has a quarterback he can build around.  Garrard certainly does not fit that description...
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

It's not like the team hasn't had some success under Del Rio. They made the playoffs twice, came close a few other times. I don't believe Del Rio is the problem. The GM was fired last year for bringing in mediocre players. Now people want to run Del Rio out of town for only winning 7 games with that mediocre talent.

According to the LA times the contract has been offered to Del Rio

John Clayton reported this morning that Del Rio is out regardless and Gene Smith will higher a no name up & comer.

You maybe right copper. Gene Smith will find a bargain of a coach with like minded philosophies and schemes... the 2 will unite and take over the universe  :o

Super anxious to find out for sure.

Nope, he's staying here, at least that is what is reported right now. Money can and does talk, so we'll see as USC has some seriously deep pockets.

Just read that too. I'm wondering if Del Rio when in to the meeting hoping to get fired and collect the $15 million on his way to USC... it would be dumb not to.

Also wondering if the probations coming to USC from the NCAA is what's keeping Del Rio from making the move.

Del Rio wasnt even at the pep rally. If he was I didnt see him.

As I suspected in an earlier post, it appears that "patient" Mr. Weaver will continue to support Del Rio for at least another year.  Gave him the benefit of the doubt.  As noted, JDR has some accomplishments to his credit and at least the one excuse, bad player decisions from Mr. Harris.  Next year is likely his defining year.  Playoffs or its over, even by Mr. Weaver's generous standards, is my bet.
Hey!  Whatever happened to just plain ol' COMMON SENSE!!
