This is one of those list where being consolidated with rural areas and suburbs pays off.  For example, this list compares Jax (all +767 square miles) with urban inner suburbs like Camden, NJ (8.8 square miles) and Miami Gardens (20 square miles).

Some other spacious and/or consolidated cities are ahead of Jacksonville on that list - Memphis, Houston, Oklahoma City, Nashville, Indianapolis, Charlotte.
The tourist would realize at once that he had struck the Land of Flowers - the City Beautiful!
