QuoteI still think the logo is lame. Looks like they stole it right out of MS clipart. I could make a better logo drunk & with my eyes closed.

It doesn't appear that was final - check out the images from the websites posted earlier:

Wondering if I'm the only fan of the WFL that kept any of his toys? I still have a coaster set with the JACKSONVILLE SHARKS logo, but IMO it looks better then the new arena league logo. I love the arena game, and certainly wish them all success. Any chance of changing the name of our Arena to "THE FISH BOWL?"

I went on Ebay to look for Sharks, Bulls, and Express items one day and was surprised at how much I found.  I saw several copies of an Express game program (drawing of Independent Life Bldg. and Main St. Bridge on the cover) and some schedules.  Also, looks like someone is now in the business of creating new merchandise with WFL logos on it; I saw an Express mini-helmet and a Sharks shirt.
The tourist would realize at once that he had struck the Land of Flowers - the City Beautiful!

Very cool! I'll have to take a look myself.

For you Youngsters the WFL was excellent football.  Many of the new rules in the NFL were adopted straight from the WFL - not that they'd ever admit it. When they took the star players from all over the NFL they created an earthquake.

Yes, that logo looks much better. Good to see they didn't go with the previous design.

Anyone that has been fishing off a pier or just off the coast of Jax, knows sharks is a fitting name... I still think the logo is lame. Looks like they stole it right out of MS clipart. I could make a better logo drunk & with my eyes closed.

Article says that some season tickets will be as low as $47?  Wow.  Sign me up.  I remember going to Tomcat games.  Saw one game where 3 touchdowns were scored in the final 41 seconds of play... pretty exciting stuff.

I actually like the "official" logo & colors - I have not been able to locate merchandise as of yet, however.

Sounds like fun Jason, let me know the time, date and place and we'll redesign the logo then crawl home! SOCO TIME! GOT CRAYONS?

For those interested in packaging a little Red & Black with some Teal & Black, T-shirts & jerseys should go on sale next week in time for the holiday(s).  Initially, it would appear that merchandise will be available on the Sharks' website only, with exclusive discounts parlayed into season ticket packages.  The website looks to still be a work in progress for now, however - so in the interim, I strongly suggest this one:

4 Sharks games on national TV (NFL Network)

QuoteNFL Network to show home opener vs. Orlando on April 16, plus three other games
The Arena Football League will be on the NFL Network, and one of the early marquee games will be the home opener for the Jacksonville Sharks on April 16 against the Orlando Predators.
Confirmation that the AFL will have a presence on the NFL Network was made Wednesday during a teleconference with league commissioner Jerry Kurz. Terms of the arrangement with the NFL Network were not disclosed.
The teleconference also outlined the league’s “single-entity structure,” which the league hopes will protect the finances of each team. Each of the 15 teams will have a stake in the league, and the salary scale will be the same for players of all teams.
“All teams will be working for the good of the league,” he said. “All teams will be sustainable.”
The first version of the AFL went bankrupt after the 2008 season, its 23rd. The current ownership had to pick up a tab of more than $6 million to purchase the league’s assets and intellectual property (such as team nicknames and records) from the bankruptcy court.
“We’re correcting an economic model that failed,” Kurz said.
The NFL Network broadcasts will be Friday nights, beginning with an April 2 game between the visiting Chicago Rush and the host Iowa Barnstormers. Three-time Super Bowl quarterback Kurt Warner played for Iowa before signing with the St. Louis Rams.
The Sharks’ game April 16 is the first of four NFL Network appearances. They also will be on May 7 at Tampa Bay, June 4 at Chicago and June 18 at Orlando.
“We’re very excited about being on the NFL Network,” Sharks director of operations Andy Wenstrand said. “It’s the network serious football fans go to and they’re going to watch football if it’s on.”
Mike Ditka, one of the owners of the Chicago Rush, said a national TV presence is a must for the league as it reinvents itself.
“The NFL Network will be pretty special,” Ditka said on the teleconference. “People have to be able to see their heroes when they’re not home or can’t get to the game.”
The Sharks’ season will open April 3 at Oklahoma City, followed by another road game April 9 against Alabama. The home opener is the first of eight at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.
Kurz said the league is in negotiations to increase the number of teams from the current 15 to more in 2011. Cities and areas that might be involved in AFL expansion include Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Denver and Southern California.
