I've been reading for a while now, and finally decided it was time to be more active - something about those tunnels...

I'm presently residing in Murray Hill, after skipping about from pillar to post after leaving my home of 25 years in Springfield, which I did under protest, and only because I was no longer capable of getting up and down all those frigging stairs.  I fell in love with Springfield when I first saw it, at perhaps the nadir of its fall (SPAR was still meeting in Lilian Fitch's living room then), and fought the good fight for many years.  In the course of those events, I learned that the city bureaucracy has no interest whatsoever in real, substantive change, unless it lines the pockets of the Board of Realtors or a certain large downtown church, but will always be in the vanguard of cosmetic false fronts to impress relocating business and industry.

While I will always be interested in historic (but not hysterical) preservation, my main focus of interest seems to be switching to the ADA, as I have joined the ranks of those disabled.  There's a lot that needs doing there.

It's nice to see there are a few people here who are actually putting some real thought into what would constitute genuine improvement in Jax, based on solid facts rather than day-dreaming.
