I was at the main branch downtown on Saturday and still cannot figure out why they close at 6. Anybody have any insight on this? The people I talked to we surprised that they closed so early.

Maybe that's when the amount of legit users of the library start to taper off?

Not from what I saw. There were still people coming in the branch at 530.

The main library is open on Saturdays?  But it is getting cooler, the homeless will need a place to stay warm.

I know there were a few libraries that had to cut hours due to the budget shortfall, could be due to that.

The Main Library and Chamblin's Uptown close early on Saturday's why? Because for the most part its DEAD after 6pm. And yes Homeless people do use the library (Why) because they have a right too! The Library system in this Town and so many others once were open till 9pm for years. Until the cities found it was an easy way to save money and help dummy up the public :o! I'm sorry but for years now if I want to do GOOD RESEARCH I go out to the UNF library and pay the three dollars to park. The hours at UNF are a lot better and opened much later.

Chamblin's is usually open until 9 PM on Saturdays, unless there is a football game being played nearby or on television.  In that case, every entertainment venue in town is dead except sports bars.
