A good thing for the people who need these shelters and JTA as a whole.

Here is one of the worlds great bus shelters.  I had a chance to visit it while I was there.

Tsk, tsk, Mr. Mayor on this one.  Your GC office is going to get you into trouble with this.  I hope I am wrong but the "experts" on this don't think so.

Just keep track of any legal fees so we can see which costs more:  The lawyers and "free" bus shelters OR having insisted on JTA taking the money out of the $14 million wasted on the $ky-high-way each year.
Hey!  Whatever happened to just plain ol' COMMON SENSE!!

I concur on the "Lawyer" aspect..........only a question of time before that part hits the fan! More immediate issue is just who or what is going to be selected as the one. I must also wonder just what friend of the Mayors will get the nod............somehow some Company in North Carolina getting Jacksonville's advertising business for shelters just seems wrong!

Keep an eye on the forces who opposed this hard-fought bill. With all the public information requests JTA has been receiving, they're no doubt looking for a way to gut the bill. It passed Council 11-5. The Mayor signed it last Fri.(10/16). This is a victory for riders of Transit, both transit dependent and choice riders. Let's move on!

FYI...today I noticed that JTA has put up a new route sign at the bus stop on Bay Street @ Ocean/Main....it is a nice look...hopefully there will be more sprouting up around town.

I noticed it a few days ago but did not see a map on it.  Hopefully, a map will be added.

Map? Gee why would they lake? Something that might even be marked as to where the stop is at might be nice but I don't think there would be room for the needed advertising!

CS - tufsu was just talking about a new bus stop sign at a downtown stop, not a shelter.  I saw one on Newnan Street, too - much improved and it looks like it will be easy to change if routes are added or dropped from the stop.  That Bay Street stop, and the Newnan stop, both have about a dozen routes each, a map would be a bit impractical.  Now, when they start putting up ad-shelters, I do hope they include route and vicinity maps.

How do they provide maps for stops with multiple routes in the big cities?

Don't know ... do you have any pix from you travels?  My guess is as part of shelters, for the most part - maybe some free-standing maps - like you've shown of downtown wayfinding maps, they may include bus routes, too.

ooh, I like the CTA example, the map is part of the shelter, and the bus stop sign gives a little info on the routes ... nice
