Jags @ Seahawks: Sims-Walker inactive for violating team rules

This was a tough one.  With the home games blacked out, many who haven't seen the Jags probably watched today's game.  And, for all the talk of the community needing to buy tickets to support the team, it's hard to expect that support when the Jags present such an awful product.  The Jags QUIT.  Harvey is going through the motions, Mathis looks to be playing two-hand-touch, and Sims-Walker can't follow team rules.  The coaching was uninspired.  There's no shame in losing, but great shame in going through the motions.  It was a head-scratcher for a young team which should have a perpetual chip on its shoulder.

The Jaguars desparately need something to build upon, at least to show desire and competetiveness, even if they don't win.  Today was an embarassment to the organization - and they deserve the lack of support their likely to realize next week.  I'm a season ticket holder, and I'll be there - but it's sad to see a team which needs the support of its fans do so little today to earn their support.

So maybe Avery should be the WR pick up of the week.

The Rams are the worst team in the league. Next week will more like the Titans game last week. The only reason a Ram might be a good fantasy play is because they will be so far behind, they will be throwing on every play.

If you want to lose your home, bet on the Jags. We've seen this type of team far to long. What gives?

Say this out loud.. "JACKSONVILLE" Jaguars. In a city hellbent on knocking down every historic building/monument, etc.. in town, why would their hometown football team be any different?

What "type of team" would that be?

How does that in any way have to do with a sports team?

You know they only missed the record set in 1995 at the hands of the Titians because they ran out of time. Maybe the next game.  :-\

They need to go through the motions of throw, catch, score.  Even awful teams manage to get a fluke field goal.  To go scoreless in the NFL is an embarrassment.  I couldn't believe how badly that game went yesterday.

This is not to excuse yesterday's performance in the slightest, but:

1) Blowouts happen in the NFL and I don't think it's realistic to say the team wasn't trying every time it performs badly.  The same thing was thrown around constantly after the Arizona game.

2) Yes, the Jaguars were awful yesterday.  Considering they are in the top 10 in the NFL in winning percentage since 1995, were contenders throughout 2004-07, and may well end up contenders this year (it's hard to get a good read on a team with tons of new players to integrate, and they've obviously been inconsistent), and that quite a few teams are obviously far worse, I don't get the assertions that the Jaguars regularly present an "awful" product.  But I see them a lot.

I assume it refers to the fact that when you read the T-U message boards, the Jaguars.com boards, etc. there's a number of people who seem to take pleasure in mocking the team, speculating on/rooting for its moving, proudly declaring reasons for not buying tickets despite having the means to do so, etc.  It comes off as self-immolation much like knocking down historic buildings without realizing what they're worth.

What an aweful game.  But I watched every second to the very end and will be there secreaming in the stands this week against the Rams.  From what I've seen, the Rams are a consistently bad team.  The Jags had a bad day coupled with a great day for the Seahawks (who are obviously better than advertised).  Sunday should be a great day for football.  The weather predictions are favorable, the matchup is favorable, and the comming bye week will be a great chance to regroup and rest up for a better Titans team.

I just bought a 3 pack of tickets this morning.

They had a bad game. They have had good games as well.

People don't understand that even a mediocre NFL team is still a freak'n NFL team....in their city......support it.

I feel your pain, I'm a seminole fan just like you and I would much rather watch jaguars football then fsu right now.

Please, let's keep this in perspective:

Yes, the game yesterday was awful.  No, there is no excuse for this.  With that said, these things happen.  In 2006 when the Jaguars beat the Jets 41-0, the Jets went on to make the playoffs, and not the Jaguars.  Will that same thing happen this year - probably not.

Guys, like it or not, this is a rebuilding year.  It is what it is.  I stand by my preseason prediction of 8-8.  This will not make the playoffs, but it will build on next year.

And it could be worse - think about what the tenessean is saying right now about the Titans.
