On the Property Appraisers website the address at 1440 Hendricks Ave is owned by "San Marco Train Station". Looking at the ground level pictures of this building it does look like it could have been a train station. Its right on the FEC line. Does anyone know the history of this building? is this a former FEC station?

Nope, no station, just the name of a project that now appears to have died on the vine. The buildings are from the days when The City of South Jacksonville, was independent. One of them might have streetcar tracks inside but I have yet to get through the gate to check it out.

Meanwhile the real depot was a classic wooden FEC station which sat at the corner of Landon Avenue and the tracks. Today the crossing has been pulled up, the platforms and station are gone, about the only trace is the right of way that makes the sweeping curve toward the end of Beach Blvd, behind a few houses.

Thanks Ock..But isn't the old FEC station now sitting on Beach Blvd just down the road from Bishop Kenney HS?

The station is from the FEC all right, but it is not the South Jacksonville station which was had a rather traditional look and size. Very similar to the one in this photo.
