Local Celebrities to Attend
Jacksonville Children's Chorus Charity Event


Several local celebrities will be in attendance at the Charity Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament hosted by the Board of Directors of the Jacksonville Children's Chorus on Friday, October 9 at 6:00 p.m. at The Poker Room at the Orange Park Kennel Club.  Registrationand a poker lesson will be held at 6:00 p.m. with the tournament beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Confirmed attendees include:

-          Michelle Jacobs, WTLV First Coast News Good Morning Jacksonville Meteorologist
-          Nicole Back, WJCT 89.9 FM Morning Edition Host/Reporter
-          Richard Nunn, WJXT Channel 4 The Morning Show Meteorologist
-          Julie Watkins, Action News Meteorologist
-          Fabio Mechetti, Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra Music Director and Principal Conductor

"We are thrilled to have Michelle, Nicole, Richard, Julie and Fabio as part of our fund raising event.  Their commitment to the Jacksonville Children's Chorus will hopefully spur others in the community to take part and support this wonderful organization." said Kim Wisdom, Jacksonville Children's Chorus Poker Tournament co-chair.  "The top three tournament finishers will receive trophies and $1,500, $1,000 and $500 cash prizes for 1st-2nd-3rd places.  Other payouts and tournament give-aways, to include a cash prize for knocking out our Celebrity Players, are also planned to ensure a fun-filled evening."

Tournament "buy-in" is $125 and includes ALL beer, wine, soda and hors d'oeuvres.  A "companion" ticket is also available for those who do not wish to play in the tournament but want to partake in the food and drink.  Cost is $30 if purchased with a "buy-in" ticket; $50 without.

All proceeds from the event will be used to fund the ensemble's music education programs.  The mission of the Jacksonville Children's Chorus is to provide a high-quality choral music education for children of diverse backgrounds, fostering teamwork, self-discipline, accomplishment and pride while filling an important cultural need in the community and sharing the beauty of the choral art form through artistically excellent performances.

Charity Event to Benefit the Jacksonville Children's Chorus

The Board of Directors of the Jacksonville Children's Chorus is hosting a Charity Poker Tournament. The benefit will take place on Friday, October 9 at 6:00 p.m. at The Poker Room at the Orange Park Kennel Club, 455 Park Avenue. Registration and a poker lesson will be held at 6:00 p.m. with the tournament beginning at 7:00 p.m.

"What is exciting about this charity event is that we have limited the maximum number of players to 150. The chances of winning the GRAND PRIZE of $1500, Trophies, Cash Payouts, and other prizes to Top Winners is quite good." said Darren Dailey, Artistic and Executive Director of The Jacksonville Children's Chorus.

The Artistic and Executive Director of the Jacksonville Children's Chorus appeared on First Coast News this morning along with Kim Wisdom, co-chairperson of the Charity Poker Tournament. Wtlv Channel 12 aired a video package highlighting the hard work and dedication of the children in the chorus and thier director in the 5:30 to 6:00 block and then Michelle Jacobs, First Coast News morning meteorologist interviewed Darren and Kim live in the 6:30 to 7:00 hour. Michelle is playing in the tournament along with Richard Nunn and Julie Watkins, meteorologists for the Jacksonville morning news programs.

Darren emphasized the valuable experiences the Chorus provides for the children involved with it. Kim talked about the upcoming Poker Tournament which benefits the chorus and is being held this Friday, October 9th, beginning at 7:00 PM.
