Five Points Theatre Halloween 2010

Ever since the Five Points Theatre opened as an independent movie house, they have really gone out of their way to do something fun for Halloween.

This year is no exception.  Creature from the Black Lagoon and singalongs galore.  Check out the links and schedule for the awesome little indie house in Five Points.

Other theatres have found that people don't go to horror festivals on Halloween weekend - they go to new releases and/or to parties.  That why we went with the weekend before Halloween (and probably why Florida Theatre did too).

We've got stuff all weekend - it's no problem if people want to go downtown on Friday night.

Creature will replay on Sunday at 3 pm.  Or you could come to the Friday night one and still be downtown by nine.  Rocky Horror doesn't start until midnight.

Rocky Horror is a blast and people definitely come out for it.  We had a full on sellout when we ran it in August.  I was out with a leaf blower Saturday morning trying to get the rice up.  And the hotdogs were new to me.

Stephen,

Thanks for bumping this up!

We start today.  The 3-D glasses for Creature got here the other day, and they're pretty exciting.

A pass to see all 10 movies is only $35.  That's the best entertainment deal in town.  Most of the movies are only $6.50 apiece (The Friday night showing of Creature is $8.50).

Our marketing has focused on Creature from the Black Lagoon, but we've also got a lot of other great films, including:

La Horde - A current French zombie/gangster film.  Dead Snow, the Norwegian Nazi zombie film, was the big hit of last year's Fest, so we wanted to continue our multi-cultural zombie experience.

The Beyond - An English-language classic from renowned 80's Italian horror maestro Lucio Fulci, on original 35mm film so the blood is extra red!

The Killing of Jacob Marr - This true indie-made film, which was just finished in September, features some classic horror elements, including an old cabin, a reclusive hermit, and a long ago mystery.

Psycho - The original and completely classic Hitchcock.

Suck - A horror comedy centered on a rock ‘n’ roll band that will do anything to become famous.  The most random cast of any movie I've ever heard of, including Alice Cooper, Moby, Iggy Pop, Dave Foley (from The Kids in the Hall), and Malcolm McDowell (from Clockwork Orange).

Evil Dead - Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell's first film.

House of The Wolfman - A little more whimsical take on the classic Wolfman story.

Human Centipede - Just what the title says.  If that intrigues you, you're the target audience for this movie.  If not, be aware of that.

The Gainesville Ripper - A locally made re-telling of the Gainesville Danny Rolling murders.

You can see more information about each film, including trailers at our website:

Looking forward to The Gainesville Ripper and some Dukes Brown Ale tomorrow night!
