and it's not that I don't agree, I do somewhat, but since we're not getting blasted about having fair-weather fans and an empty stadium, Florio had find something to say about the jags...

QuoteJaguars at Bills

Florio's take:  The Bills are bad, but in this season of parity they're not bad enough to lose all 16.  Even with former Bills quarterback Trent Edwards feeding the Jags with the Buffalo state secrets, Jacksonville is prime for a letdown after unexpectedly toppling the Colts.

Florio's pick:  Bills 20, Jags 19.

Rosenthal's take: The Bills have no chance to move the ball against superior defenses.  The Jaguars do not have a superior defense.  In fact, the Jaguars' secondary is one of the few groups in the league struggling as much as Buffalo during their transition to the 3-4 defense.  The Bills aren't going 0-16, and this looks like one of their most winnable games of the year.  Bad David Garrard shows up this week.

Rosenthal's pick:  Bills 23, Jaguars 21.

That being said, will the real D. Garrardy please stand up, please stand up, please stand up.

I don't want to be overly optimistic, but I think the Jags are going to come strong this weekend.  MJD's legs are going to get tired from running back and forth all night.  I say Jags by 6.

Their run defense is last in the league. We have to take advantage of that. Run wild Mojo.

I agree with you both, but that's part of the reason I titled this the Cardiac Cats.  We DO have a history of playing either up or down to our competition.  And even though we're 2-2, and everyone keeps saying how lousy our defense is, I would like to point out that 3 QBs we've played agains are 1-3 on overall yds so far this season, and 4 of the top 5 receivers.  I don't know if that is because of us or in spite of us, but it tells me that our defense has been up against 3 of the top 5 offenses in the league so far.  I take that as a positive.

As long as it's a hard-fought battle, I'm honestly ok with a W or an L. I can understand the "you're only as good as your last game" mentality, but it's a little kooky to see people wildly swinging from "worst team in Jags history" after the two losses to "we have a shot at the playoffs, maybe the Super Bowl!" after beating the Colts. If we can just keep playing competitive, entertaining football without getting blown out and giving up again, I'll consider the season a success.
