Anyone board members live there or know people that live there? I was considering checking it out. Just wondering how the area is and the vibe of the community there.

I do -- lived here about a year and a half now. There are some others who post here who live here as well.

It's been a great place to live... the neighborhood is pretty quiet, my house is close to liberty st, which is the busiest road bordering the place, and we get some traffic noise, the firetrucks, etc, but nothing to complain about. It's a road.

You can only park a car inside your garage, or in the space in front of it. Any more than that and you have to find a spot on the street. We don't have a problem with it but the concept is sometimes puzzling to visiting friends and family.

You see a lot of transients walking by -- we're kind of on the path between the services available on the east side of downtown and the west side of downtown. We never have problems with people really.

As far as the neighborhood, I think it's pretty typical, most people keep to themselves, some people are in everyones business... nothing remarkable. We have a fairly active neighborhood association looking after the place. I'm lucky to have good neighbors directly near my unit.

Are you thinking of renting or buying? If you're buying I can go into some more detail on things about the units that might be good to know...

Brian has summed it up pretty well...I moved in 4 1/2 years ago and live at the opposite corner of the complex from him...some call it the better half :)

I've sold several homes there and everyone I've worked with has had nothing but good things to say about it.  I particularly like the design of the community with the gate access to the interior parking and the clubhouse/pool in the middle.  Its seems to be the best of both worlds with all the amenities of urban living but the perks of having a pool and secured parking.

I own a unit ( on Church) that I lease out there.  If you are interested in renting, my property manager handles 2 or 3 units in the complex.  Send me a PM if you want her contact info.  She owns a unit there too and might want to sell it.

I might be interested in selling dependent on price.  It has several upgrades, so the price would need to reflect that.  Send me a PM if interested.

I'm going to start off initially renting. Mostly due to the fact that I've gone back and forth the past few years about leaving Jacksonville. I don't want to get into owning and finally a job comes up that tempts me to move. I've lived downtown before (at the Carling), so I'm used to the noise of traffic and so forth. I just wasn't too familiar with living on that edge of downtown. I contact someone about an unit there today, so hopefully it'll still be open for me when I plan on moving at the start of November. Thanks for all of the info guys, sounds like a great spot to live. The parking situation for friends will have me stumped for a bit though.

parking for friends is pretty easy....two options:

1. There is plenty of on-street parking....all of which is free (and rarely monitored for the 2 hour limit during the day)

2. Have them come through the gate and park in the drive space behind the unit...that's what I do, and the folks who have 2 cars.

Yeah now that you mention it, that sounds better than what my friends had to deal with when they'd come to see me at the Carling. That block on Adams seems to stay full most of the day.

The parking is not a big deal. As you mentioned, you actually have more options for visitors than a place like the Carling.

The problem I was mostly referring to is more related to suburban minded folks who come to visit.

For instance, I had a guy scheduled to come clean my carpet. He never showed up so I called him... he claimed he couldn't find a parking space anywhere nearby, and that he couldn't find my house. He said there weren't any house numbers. I went outside and double checked to make sure no one had stolen my number plaque.

I guess he was just slightly outside of his comfort zone and totally gave up. I borrowed my neighbors little bissell carpet cleaner and saved myself 50 bucks.
