Let's not forget the little boats. They'll likely out fish the fancy inshore boats anyway.

It on the list now

Dealers and owners of large vessels often complain of the lack of Jacksonville boating 'destination' while in fact smaller craft enthusiasts revel in some of the finest smaller craft waters in the nation.

Here's another novel Idea why don't the the local merchants partner with the people that are actually using the products IE the local organizations. and set up a type of boat Cruise in ( car shows do it). Get a bunch of boats together and make it a true event. Like a boat week. people would say to themselves that looks like a blast I think I will buy a boat.

Some individual dealers and manufacturers often do this with their own product, customer and prospective customer base. These events tend to be low key without public fanfare or participation.

They need to do it with public fanfare and participation here is an example of how it should be done

Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Fernandina and all of coastal Florida is a great for boats of all sizes!

When I bought my boat in 2008 I felt like I just unlocked 75% more of this area.

I've got an 18' Bayliner bowrider. It's my first and only boat. I call it the Toyota Corolla of boats  :D

For the last 3 summers I've spent a lot of weekends pleasure cruising the STJR and Intercoastal waterways. The ability to search out secluded empty beaches is like having a backstage pass to North Florida.

My only regret is not buying a larger boat. I've learned a lot about boating & what I want from a boat over the last couple of years and I just decided to put my boat up for sale... I'm now looking towards a more practical & larger center console.

I've only been able to take my little boat a few miles offshore on really calm days. In doing that I got a taste for offshore adventures and I'd really like to explore, fish & dive a little further without the shallow hull limitations.

If anyone is interested in a great introductory  boat that's great on gas and only 4 years old let me know ;)

And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.

Shawz..........if you have not done it yet, I would suggest a "Coast Guard Auxillary" course and making sure you have all the equipment for a what if situation! Out of sight of land is a whole nother ballgame versus inland use!

No worries Foltz... I've got a sextant!

I prefer an astrolabe to a sextant
