Do public apologies work? Is politics amoral?

Just asking ...
If Rick Scott had admitted to wrong-doing instead of side-stepping the charges he would have been a dead duck.
I predict that Blago will survive the second time around if he continues to stonewall and admit to nothing. So will Rangel and Waters.
The American electorate does not have the stomach for confessions. They love politicians with balls. It's only the media that cares about personal sins. Politicians who break the law do best by clamming up and taking their lumps in the Media.
Sandford and Clinton did it the wrong way. Clinton got bad advice from his lawyer and appeared on TV to sort of admit to Lewinsky. Bad move!
They should all learn from Tiger. He appeared in public dressed in sackcloth and ashes. What did it get him?

Was that after he appeared on TV to deny it?
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

LOL. I knew you would single out Clinton, the Republican's antichrist. Just his appearance on TV to confront the charges that were nobody's business was a tacit admission IMO. Even the denial was transparent. He should have let the chips fall where they might.
As a result I believe that history will see him only as a good president but not a great president.

In order to debate the issue of morality in politics, (which no honest, intelligent person would do {clearly I will}) one would first need to define what morality is.

1) What is morality?

2) Where does it come from?

3) Is there a God?

Let's skip all that.

We'll decide to agree (By bucketorial decree) that morality is what a consensus of americans (in this case the relevant group of humans) says it is.

Therefore, we can extrapolate that all politicians are moral since they are voted into office. A consensus of voters can't be wrong.
