QuoteThe Axemen will team up with the Jacksonville Mens Rugby Union Club to take on a team from a visiting British Navy Ship tonight in an exhibition match. The game will take place at Victory Park, located at 3781 University Club Blvd (off Fort Caroline Road). Kick-off is planned for 6.30pm - entry is free to all.

"Friendly" games like this are a great way to show the rest of the world that Rugby is growing in the Jacksonville area and also fantastic for international relationships to be formed between the teams. With Jacksonville having such a large naval community and foreign ships making calls at Mayport on a frequent basis, the chance to host games like this is presented more often than most would imagine.
Being able to play a "familiar" sport so far from home is always a great experience for the visiting sailors and with Jacksonville having such strong teams like the "Ospreys" Union team and the Axemen, it is always a good test for the visitors.
There is no charge for fans or interested locals to come out and check out the game. Of course the use of the word "Friendly" for any Rugby game is one that used very loosely as the action the field becomes competitive after the first tackle is made.

The match tonight will be Union as that is what the Royal Navy team plays as well as the UNF Club.
