Photo Tour - San Diego

You all have to see this photo tour of San Diego.  These are all aerial photos taken by Bill Cobb.  He has done the same for Jax.

By the looks of it San Diego has everything we have all asked for here in Jax.  This city is truely on it way to becomming an urban mecca.  Check it out!

Yes, there's a lot of things in San Diego that we can learn from, in regards to urbanism.

For one, this is a true Transit Oriented Development (TOD)

The center of this infill development is the rail station itself, which anchors the community's public green space.  Residents here, can truly leave their car in the garage and take a train into work or get around town.


This is not a TOD

This does not place any focus on the FCCJ Rosa Parks skyway/bus facility.  In fact, it turns its back to it.  This is a Transit Adjacent Development (TAD), because it happens to be constructed near a station. 

One of these happens to be more beneficial for the community and mass transit ridership.  A major reason for this is it (TOD) is designed with transit being a focal point, while the other (TAD) does not.
