I posted this yesterday in the Murray Hill tour thread, but since it is this evening I wanted to put it out there again.

What: A rally in support of the Murray Hill branch library, which has recently had its hours cut and could be closed next year.

Where: Murray Hill Presbyterian Church, 940 Talbot Ave. After organizing at the church, those in attendance will march to the Murray Hill library.

When: Thursday, 7 p.m.

Here is the link to the Murray Hill Preservation site that has the flyer.

Also here is the link to their fact sheet so you can see their argument of support.

My hat's off to the Murray Hill neighborhood for their well organized reaction.  The Eastside and Brentwood branches are also having their hours cut.  This has happened without any opportunity for public input.

I am going out there tonight with my brother-in-law and my fiance. I can understand the need for the cuts, but what you said before is my biggest problem, the lack of input. Cutting it at the beginning of summer when there would be more kids using it since school is out is a bad idea. Plus spreading out the cuts to more areas could have softened the blow.

I really do not want to see it close completely. It just feels like another neglected asset of the core, because funding has spread so thin since the city spreads so far out. If it closes it will just be another abandoned building and a detriment to the area.
