Official News Release

QuoteThe 2010 Jacksonville 48 Hour Film Project Competition Weekend June 18 â€" 20:

The 2010 Jacksonville 48 Hour Film Project, presented by PRI Productions and in partnership with The Florida Theatre, Kicks Off this Friday, June 18, at the Jacksonville Landing in downtown Jacksonville.  42 teams of filmmakers will find out what genre their film has to be shot in the style of, by drawing it randomly from a hat.  At two (2) minutes to 7:00pm, they will find out the character, prop and line of dialog they must all include in their films and at 7:00pm on the dot, the clock starts.  They will then have 48 hours to write, produce, shoot, edit, score and render a 4 to 7 minute short film and return, with their completed film, to the Jacksonville Landing by 7:30pm on Sunday, June 20.

Everyone is invited to come down to the Jacksonville Landing this Friday, June 18 to help Kick Off our competition this year.  Last year we had over 400 people in the courtyard of the Jacksonville Landing to send our filmmakers on their way.  This year we have a special treat for those that are not rushing out to make films at 7:00pm, my best friend’s band, The Ride, will be taking the stage at 8:00pm.  Be sure to come back on Sunday, June 20, to cheer for the teams as they return with their completed films and “Race the Clock” to turn them in on time.  Join us for the “Big Countdown” at 7:29:50pm as we do a big countdown to the end.

Once again I had to make the hard choice between two outstanding events taking place simultaneously in little ole J'ville/Cowford last night. Whyowhy can't I be in 2 places at once. While I wanted to go the the Urban Jacksonville soiree in Riverside at the 5 Points Theater, I opted instead to attend all 3 screenings of 48 hour films presented this week at our lovely downtown venue, the Florida Theatre. But last night all in the audience, the largest crowd by far, were richly rewarded! We have got some seriously talented film folks and if you haven't checked this event out before but you like film, you must turn out next time. Incidentally, my film played Wednesday night and it was pretty solid too!
