I wonder if 20 years ago that I-10east would have thought that getting an NFL team was overrated.

You had to ask for it...?!  ;D

1. Expanding the Skyway to anywhere.
2. Paying for bus shelters with ads.
3.. Thinking, for even a second, that JTA, FDOT,or TPO may actually be serious about, or committed to, doing the right thing with regard to any facet of the present or future of mass transit.

This should keep the discussion going for a few more pages.   ;)
Hey!  Whatever happened to just plain ol' COMMON SENSE!!

I think you would disagree with yourself as to these subjects being overrated as you speak post passionately about them. You do not have to be for something for it to rate highly with you. People get their dander up about many things they disagree with.

LOL. I always wanted Jax to get a NFL team.

Why is that I-10east? Since Atlanta and Tampa have teams why do we need one? We can just go  to their games and stop and visit their aquariums, return to Jax and have a picnic at the mainstreet pocket park. Now no city can rival that. Go Jax!!!

Wanted or believed we had a chance. I want to win the lotto but I wouldn't invest much hope in it.

^^^Put it this way, after STL screwed up it's bid, I began believing. I'm not gonna sit here and lie and act like we were one of the frontrunner cities to get a NFL team esp. with cities like BAL, and STL in the picture; That's old news now, and I recently got two Jags season tickets (Section 216, Row Y, seats 18, and 19)

Keith, aquariums are boring to me, sorry; They are money guzzlers! What multi-millionaire/billionaire philanthropist is gonna invest in an aquarium here? Jax is a very fickle city that's not easy to please. I can TOTALLY see Jacksonvillians QUICKLY getting bored with an aquarium. I guess that nearby Marineland, Jax Zoo's seasonal stingray exhibit, and the Marine Science Center isn't enough.

I want to talk about trolleys, light rail, bringing back Amtrak until I beat that race horse to death........Not.

Nevertheless, even you will admit it will be nice when Amtrak comes back downtown 10 years in advance due to the lobbying this site has stimulated.

It will be nice, but anything the JTA touches turns to brown goo that is akin to oil in the gulf. I have no faith in JTA and they are the worst, absolute worst public agency in Jacksonville. They are dead from the neck up, all of them.

I agree about the Aquarium.  Too many close-by cities have already done it.  Fifteen years ago, maybe.  I might feel differently if they weren't so expensive to build and maintain.

Jax is a long ways from getting an IKEA, so yeah, why talk about it.

Bass Pro Shops are a tourist attraction, but I don't see it happening either.

You hit the nail on the head concerning an aquarium. BTW Vic, what makes Bass Pro Shops a tourist attraction? The climing wall perhaps? That's the only unique thing that I can think of concerning BPS.

I agree that Amtrack downtown will be a benefit. As for rail. Where has CSX been on this issue locally?

As for an attraction for Downtown what do you think of using containers on the 680' Landmar Pier when it reverts back to the citizens of Jacksonville after bankruptcy? We are a Port city. 14 Ports in the state. Imagine an Art container (Tie in with RAM), Food container, Sportsmans container, Exercise container, Communications container (radio stations rotating time to broadcast live there promotions...etc) Add your own idea. Mix it up and put a MJ trolley on the Pier. This is a viable inexpensive job creating economic stimulas that can happen now.
