Alex Sink, Chief Financial Officer of Florida and candidate for Governor, had lunch with supporters today at Northstar Substation on Bay Street.  A large and enthusiastic crowd - including several representatives of the media - came out to meet Ms. Sink and learn more about her platform and plans for her campaign.

CFO Sink was poised and personable and stressed the importance of small business - which employs 90% of Floridians - and education.

Ms. Sink has an impressive background in business and - unlike her Republican opponent - came only recently to politics.  However, she clearly knows how to work a room and I expect she will be a formidable candidate.    She was the first democrat to be elected to statewide office in Florida in twelve years when she successfully ran for CFO.  Exciting to think she may be the first woman elected governor of this state!

I thought the recent Gamble Political Cartoon that showed Sink and McCullom approaching a local Jax resident, with the residents asleep on the porch, as indicitive of the race for Florida Governor. Scott and Greene will make it interesting since they are trying to buy their votes with money.
And, that $115 will save Jacksonville from financial ruin. - Mayor John Peyton
