NFL to improve local facility

The NFL announced a $65,000 grant to be used to improve facilities at “Flossie Brunson” Eastside Community Park as part of its Grassroots Program.

The money will be used to install Bermuda sod, a new irrigation system and improve drainage at the community football field where the Police Athletic League provides organized sports programs.

Over the years, the NFL has given grants worth $665,000 to improve football facilities in Jacksonville.

Nationwide, the NFL program resulted in the construction or renovation of 225 football fields in different neighborhoods.
