Jax Industrial District

Back in the 30's, 40's and 50's did Jax ever have what you would call "an industrial district?" Just warehouses, factories, mills, plants etc all crowded in together, like an urban jungle...If so where might it have been? And was there rail service provided in that area?

Park Street in Brooklyn is also lined with small brick warehouses between McCoys Creek and Forest.
