Even Nazis didn't bother to go that far.
After war, most people who did or supported this act STUPID now,as they dont know anything about that.

In my hometown total of 16 mosques destroyed to ground and entire Bosnia around 950.

So,this is nothing new.

Bos, I agree that this is a crime and should NEVER - EVER happen to anyone of ANY FAITH!

A couple of observations about your comments.

The Nazi's went that far and WAY beyond it...  Here is a story you might not know:

QuoteThe Destruction of Lidice

Lidice was a village that stood about 20 kilometres north-west of Prague until June 1942 when it was completely destroyed and erased from all maps by the occupying forces of Nazi Germany.

Resistance to Nazi occupation

The Czech lands were among the first places to be occupied by the Nazi Germany in their aggressive expansion that led to the outbreak of WWII. During the years that followed there was a small but effective resistance movement that aimed to hinder the occupying Nazi forces whenever possible.

Perhaps their greatest success was the June 1942 assassination of Hitler's third-in-command, and most powerful figure in occupied Czechoslovakia, Reichsprotektor Reinhard Heydrich. Heydrich was ambushed by British trained Czechoslovak paratroopers while driving through Prague and died as a result of his injuries several days later.

Hitler's Retaliation
An enraged Hitler ordered his men to ‘wade through blood’ to find those responsible, and his orders regarding any communities found harbouring the assassins were to
1. Execute all men and boys above the age of 15
2. Transport all women to a concentration camp
3. Place children suitable for Aryanization into approved families
4. Level the entire village to the ground

The village of Lidice several kilometres north west of Prague was chosen for exactly that treatment, despite there being no proof that the villagers were in any way connected with Heydrich's death.

Unlucky Lidice

How the SS chose Lidice remains unclear decades later, but there are several theories. One involves a love letter to a local girl intercepted by her employer and turned over to the Gestapo because it seemed the writer had some part in the assassination. Under interrogation Anna recalled that her lover had once asked her to pass on greetings to the Horák family of Lidice from their son, who was serving with the RAF in Great Britain.

After investigations including a thorough search of Lidice, the Gestapo managed to identify the writer as an ordinary factory worker from Kladno. Because he was married and feared being found out, he wrote to end his affair with the girl by saying he was part of the resistance and was forced into hiding.

The Kladno Gestapo concluded there was no connection with the Heydrich assassination and reported that to Prague, but by then the fate of the village was sealed. The new top man in Nazi hierarchy, Karl Frank, had already decided to make an example of Lidice to demonstrate his tough approach and at Heydrich’s funeral in Berlin on the 9th of June, Hitler agreed.

Deportations, executions, and destruction

Executions on the Horak family farm Early on the morning of the 10th, an SS Task Force surrounded Lidice and rounded up all the villagers. The woman and children were transferred to Kladno, where they were separated; The 184 women were sent by train to Ravensbruck concentration camp and the 88 children were sent to Lodz in Poland. In Poland a handful of Lidice’s children were selected for Germanization and the rest were transferred to Chelmno, where they were gassed on the day of their arrival.

Lidice’s men and older boys were taken to the farmhouse of the Horák family on the edge of the village, where they were lined up against the wall of the barn, and shot by firing squad, ten at a time. The dead were left where they fell and the new groups of ten were lined up without blindfolds until there were 173 dead bodies lying in the Horáks’ orchard.

With the villagers gone, the village of Lidice was set alight. The foundations and anything else that didn’t burn was later blown up or bulldozed until no trace remained. By year’s end, all that was left of the village was empty land and some Prohibited Entry signs.

The destruction of Lidice was filmed by the Nazis and the footage later served as evidence against them in the Nuremberg trials. The footage also features heavily in the video presentation of the excellent visitors centre and museum on a low rise that overlooks the valley in which Lidice once stood.

Now for something I know you know BOS, but some of the others might not know... The Independent State of Croatia (Croatian: Nezavisna Država Hrvatska, NDH) was a World War II puppet state of Nazi Germany, established on a part of Axis-occupied Yugoslavia. The NDH was founded on April 10, 1941 after the invasion of Yugoslavia by the Axis power.

Today the world community is very nervous that the "new" Croatia, has embraced it's Nazi past, even sporting a "nostalgic" rock band that focuses on that era.

I dont see Nazis passing A LAW that forbides reconstruction of destoyed buildings, they destroyed but didnt go that far to put it into law.

Croats are catholics that Vatican supports and so it was NDH.During WWII in once instance group of Croat catholic priests stormed village near my town and went to local elementary school, pulling entire class of kids and slaughter them on site.
Some of those priests later were hidding with help of Vatican.Go figure.

As for todays Croatia, well you'll have to talk to US government, since it was US who trained and helped Croatia get rid of all Serbs in 1995 operation Oluja.
Today Croatia is helping in war in Afghanistan by sending troops even against wishes of own people and allow US military to wonder around Croatia while bankrupting entire country.

You dont have to worry about them,Croatia government is fully controlled by USA like many other countries around world.

They must not read MJ. :)

The sad part is the Lt. Governor of this state issued a statement on the matter and the councilman who represents the district the mosque is in did not know.

Doctor_K

He could've at least read the damn news.  I got the article from Action News Jax and had seen it on Channel 4's The Morning Show.

Average Joe-Blow knows about it and gets it from two sources, but the damn councilman doesn't know about it?  Embarrassing and shameful.

This is from the FCN story:

QuoteSome council members said they had not heard of the incident prior to First Coast News asking for comment.

"I only heard of it this afternoon," said Council Vice President Jack Webb.

I suppose we're not planning on going to war with Russia. This might be a good reason to invade Iran or North Korea.
