QuoteArt Graham appointed to vacant Jacksonville City Council seat

Art Graham is returning to the Jacksonville City Council â€" a post he vacated just five months ago.

Gov. Charlie Crist made the appointment Friday afternoon, filling the seat he removed John Meserve from last month.

Crist cited Graham’s previous service on the City Council as a key reason for returning him to the District 13 seat, which covers the Beaches and Deerwood areas.

“Art is a knowledgeable entrepreneur and public servant who is well-suited to serve on the Jacksonville City Council,” the governor said in a statement. “His previous experiences serving the people of Jacksonville will benefit the city, and I am confident he will be a welcome voice on the council.”

Graham planned to throw an impromptu victory party of sorts Friday night to celebrate his return to the seat he held for six years before resigning early to run for the state Senate. He lost to John Thrasher in a special Republican primary in September.

It is a good choice and the only choice............my only question is why did it take so long? Thirty days to me without representation is not what I voted on!

He can't run for City Council again, until he sits out a full term (as I understand it).  Of course, he could make another run at State Senate, or the State House of Representatives later this year (and resign, again, from Council).  Wonder if there was an agreement that he won't run in 2010 as a condition of the appointment?
